New classes for Spring!

January 9th, 2018

The Spring term begins this week and we are looking forward to the start of some new classes which we are giving to children of pre-school age.  These will be on Tuesdays and Saturdays.  The average length of stay is seven years, so we commit ourselves to our pupils in the belief that they will be with us during the whole of their infant and junior school years.  Not only do we seek to provide an important part of their development, we also want them to have FUN!  If anyone is interested, do contact us.  We’ll be happy to help.

The Forum School of Dance

September 10th, 2014

It is with great pleasure that we announce the opening of a new step forward in the development of the Classical Dance Studios. From September, 2014, we will be working in partnership with The Forum, Bath and the new project will be called The Forum School of Dance.

The venue is in one of the most central locations in the historic city of Bath. Already known as a centre for the performing arts, it incorporates an auditorium with seating for just under 1,700 people and a stage which is one of the largest in the West of England. In fact, the programme over the next few months includes visits from Paloma Faith, Paul Hollywood and last year’s X Factor winner, Sam Bailey.

A beautiful new studio in The Forum ballroom

Our studio will be located in the Ballroom which is on the first floor and is already fitted with a fully sprung floor. It is a wonderful room in which to work, with an atmosphere created by a tradition of dance involvement which goes back over more than 50 years.

Additionally, at the beginning of September, the Forum is completing another new venture. The Forum Coffee Shop will be opening it’s doors on Monday, 8th September and The Forum School of Dance will start on the day after that. Parents and guardians will be able to relax in comfort over a cup of freshly brewed coffee while their child’s class is in progress.

This school will provide a unique and exciting opportunity for parents and children alike, enabling the pupils to have the experience of attending in a situation which returns dance to its rightful place – the theatre.

Naturally, the school’s development from this point forward will depend on the staff having the right amount of time available to be able to fulfil all its briefs. To that end, we have decided to re-structure the timetable and have closed the Kingswood branch. Part of the reasoning behind this decision lay with the need to develop our Clifton branch and to add to the other commitments in which the Classical Dance Studios is involved. These actions will offer the opportunity to strengthen the Bristol base, thereby providing an opening for the children there to have access to the wonderful opportunities which we will be striving to provide in Bath.

We would like to thank all the families who have proved loyal to the aims and ideals of the Classical Dance Studios by committing themselves to the new structure. Especially, we would like to thank the parents who have already decided to travel all the way from Bristol to Bath every week.

We are at the beginning of an exciting journey. Get ready for a wonderful ride!!

Classical Dance Studios launch their new website and blog

September 5th, 2011

Welcome to the blog page of our new website.  We do hope you’re enjoying reading all about us and that you’ll want to learn more.

Last year was exciting, with a variety of activities and events, wonderful exam’ results and a visit by our director, Deborah Sims, to the Aalto Ballet in Essen, Germany where she was able to meet up with ex-student Paula Archangelo (please see the Past Students’ successes page).

We have had several enquiries about the Classical Dance Studios which have resulted in our having to explain our policy concerning the numbers in each class.  Our aim is to have no more than twelve dancers in each group.  This is so that we can offer a personal and caring service to each participant.  If there are too many in the class, it is possible to miss it when someone needs help with their technique or artistry.  We believe that it is partly because of this policy that we have had such a high level of success in our exam’s and in taking dancers forward to professional careers.

Watch this space to see what else we have lined up for the year ahead.  There are lots of interesting plans in the pipeline.
